To my mother,
You have always supported me in everything I chose to do. Your prayers and teachings have followed me throughout my life and held me up when I thought that all was going wrong. Your love has lifted me up and let me know that it is okay to make mistakes, to fail, to fall. This has made me the man that I am today.
Without your words of encouragement, without the drive to succeed that you instilled within me at a young age, without the moral stature with which you face all of life’s problems, I would be nothing. These things that you have taught me I have held, and will always hold in my heart through the years. You taught me how to be a son, and in teaching that, taught me how to face the world.
Your strength amazes me every day. I wonder that such a frail flower can stand against such gales and storms that life assails it with, standing, head unbowed, giving glory only to God above for the strength which you’ve used to face many trials. I thank God every day that he saw fit to place me, a most unworthy creature, in the care of such a wonderful woman. Your heart and your strength are as the lion, and your passion for right and life is awesome.
In life, it is often hard to say the things that matter to those you love, and you have always fought through that difficulty. I know that I can always go to you with any problem, and question, and you will always tell me the truth. Your heart may hurt because of it, but I always know the things you tell me are the things that matter. These things are the truth, and you only tell me them because you love me so very much.
If I have ever done anything that brought the slightest smile to your face, or made you proud of me, it is only because of the things you’ve always taught me growing up. I am a reflection of the good things you’ve done in your life, and the teachings you’ve passed on. These are the things that are important in life, and I can never forget that or thank you enough for those teachings. You made me see at an early age that it’s not what you have or who you’re friends with, but how you live your life with honesty, integrity, and humbleness.
You are the embodiment of a woman to me, spiritual, honest, humble, upright, and forthright. Your love for your husband and God are the pattern for my life, and I can hope for no better ideals than those with which you live your life. You are a blessing and a miracle and I thank God that this miracle is in my life.
Thank you for being my mother,
Love,
Jamie
